Are any of you attending the New Jersey Association of School Librarians Annual Fall Conference, October 29-31, 2006?

I was hoping to attend the conference on October 29th. I was given the information by my Fran Patton in the course Organization of Media Materials. I would also like to attend on Oct. 30th, but I may not get this professional day granted to me because I am a science teacher.

I do look forward to attending at least Sunday.

You will have a great time at the conference. There is so much to do and the sessions are so informative. Have fun and enjoy!

Can anyone recommend or mention any workshops they experienced during this conference that you felt was beneficial to librarians? (or future librarians?) Especially interesting? Interactive for students?

I could recommend mine, Dr. Twomey's and Dr. Shamburg's but that would be narcissistic. LOL

There are so many sessions, I dont' know where to start with recommendations. They have everything from Bloglines, to video production, to Read/Write web tools, and the list goes on! The most difficult part is picking just one from the many. I can offer some advice as to how I select conference sessions. First, obviously, I look for the content I am most interested in. Next, I look at the credentials of the presenters. Are the presenters possible colleagues whom I might like to network with? Do they have similar interests? Have they published on the subject? Finally, I try not to duplicate the sessions I attend--I might attend most sessions that are main interests but also a few that are new or totally outside my usual scope. HTH!

All the workshops were excellent last year. I suggest you look at the offerings for this year and see what interests you. Dr. Z. is presenting on Monday.

I am on the planning committee and will be attending this year for the 2nd time. I thoroughly enjoyed myself last year and learned soooo much! I recommend attending the NJASL conference to both veteran and novice school librarians. I am really looking forward to this year's conference.

I will be there. I told my principal that I had to be there for all three days and she told me that was fine with her. I learned so much last year and I only went for one day so I am really excited to be going to all 3 days this year.
